Gould Will Not Build West From El Paso

A Fort Worth special reports Gould interests will not extend northwest through Texas to shorten the transcontinental line and connect with the Denver Rio Grande. The Texas Pacific line into El Paso would remain, with no El Paso extension. Local rail news notes fires at the Harvey House, accidents, personnel moves, and a plan to relocate the Southwestern division terminal from Alamogordo to Carizozo.

Camel transportationEssay and show note in one piece

An 1857 US camel experiment in Texas drew camels from Egypt, landed at Indianola, then widely used for territorial supply routes before failing after two years. The Sells-Floto show later claimed a fine dozen camels, inviting study of their habits. A later note covers Dr King’s New Discovery for coughs and Bucklen’s Arnica Salve for wounds.

Raccoon Mountains Honey Lure In Rural Lore

Feyp Cove correspondence from Sequachee Tennessee notes the rural gitle and mountain lasses have lips and cheeks that seem akin to honey. It laments the longing for sweeter days and the habit of asking questions among pencilers while bees in the caves of the mountains would not miss a taste of honey even if Heaven’s dew failed.
