Cattle Receipts Strong but Market Narrows at Kansas City
Kansas City reports last week saw 93 000 cattle receipts including 12 000 calves the heaviest this year. Prices were generally fair until Friday when buyers weakened and most classes closed 10 to 16 cents lower. Western stockers held steady while supply favored tall end cattle. Cow market rose midweek but eased at close. Week runs look large then taper next week. Best killing steers 3.25 to 3.75. cows 2.20 to 2.55. veals 5.90 to 6.25. calves 3.25 to 4.35.
