Trial Transcripts Reveal Grim Details Of Madrid Case
The testimony shows uneducated defendants displaying indifference as the trial proceeds. A witness notes the children played with dolls including a "Nigger Girl" burlesque object while questions about the victims’ fate are asked. The father of the victim’s child resides in Silver City and has not visited the deathly ill girl. The mother circulates a petition to commute the sentence, claiming undue influence by Alma Lyons, while locals doubt its merit. Francisco Bac and Madrid faced charges. Bac faces trial later. The public mood shifts against the defendants, and the widow’s family is implicated in further distress.
