Petition for 4m apportionment denied in Gonzales case
Santa Fe court denied the petition for 4m apportionment and writ of superseders in the dispute over Anastacia Gonzales, the former Santa Fe assessor removed on incompetency charges. District Attorney Abbott and Romero Horna argued for the territory. Gonzales remains out of office. Brother Augustine, aged 79, educator and former coach at St Michael's, died in St Louis after decades of teaching in New Mexico. Governor Hagerman returned to Santa Fe from Roswell and commented on a proposed attorney general appointment and the county assessor disagreement, supporting Edward Collins for the post contingent on legal processes. He praised Collins for an impartial property assessment and spoke on regional land and water conditions, with rising land values noted around the Preston Beck Grant and Cobras Springs area.
