Terrific rain storm drenches city with lightning damage
A powerful rain storm yesterday produced heavy downpours and lightning across the city. A lightning bolt struck a tree in front of the courthouse and entered the building during sessions, while the Albuquerque Hardwire company building lost a log and several bricks. A front door at Skinners grocery broke, and a lightning strike damaged homes and utilities including a fire on Went Gold avenue. A six year old boy in the McClurken residence was stunned but not fatally injured. Streets flowed like rivers and streetcars ran through floodwater toward Old Town. Reports say the central and southern parts of the territory also experienced general rain, especially Socorro and Santa Fe.
