Prescott Arizona July 1 After a forty two day ride the equestrian statue of Captain O Neill Rough Riders arrived in Prescott last night in charge of H P Hughes of the auditor’s office of the FP and PL railway He was instructed by W A Drake to rush it to Prescott A faulty car caused a delay at Winston but a six man team repaired it and the statue continued by special train to Ash Fork and on to Prescott Unveiling preparations and platform and grounds work proceed as committees gather for the ceremony Electric decorations are being wired for the court house and the city expects many visitors for the unveiling celebration Most of the city is busy completing preparations and promising a large turnout
Bridgeton witnesses recount a July lake tragedy on a moonlit boat ride. Marie V. disappeared after a sudden capsize. George Evans, an athlete and swimmer, saved himself but could not rescue her as both sank. Evans quotes describe a split second shift of seats before the vessel went under.
A man recounts struggling to save a drowning woman as both go under several times. He reaches land and reports the incident to police. The woman’s body is found next morning in four feet of water with facial injuries. An inquest is scheduled, with family urging custody for the man.
