Financial Conditions and Rising Railroad Capital Demands

In the Weekly Financial Review Henry Clewa notes little change in financial conditions despite stock market rallies and a weak undertone. He cites railroads needing about 5.5 billion dollars over five years, with 1.1 billion annually, and reports upcoming large capital issues from Chesapeake & Ohio, Southern Railway, Atchison, and others. Industrial firms like American Woolen, American Telephone, Mackay interests, and National Carbon also seek funds, potentially skewing financing toward stronger names.
