Representative Hogg Writes On Statehood

Washington January 16 1906 W J McCreight Albuquerque Dear Sir On my return to Washington I have your letter of the 6th set It is difficult to foretell the face of the joint statehood bill I would rather there should be two states instead of one but I believe it is better there should be one State rather than none I became interested through my friend Rodey who worked day and night in the interests of his people I have been trying to have the committee view the bill proposing that within twenty years Arizona may enter as a separate date when population reaches 200000 exclusive of Indians I think if this were in the bill it would draw away opposition to the bill I shall support the bill Yours
