In Keyser township last Saturday N J Kirk of Kunkel Ohio arrived with his former wife Mrs Jobo Embry's son to visit. After taking the boy for a ride Kirk shot himself in the mouth in a buggy near Embry’s home. The boy fled icily with the revolver and Kirk died beside the road after about two hours. The Garrett undertakers moved the body to town. Auburn Courier.

Miss Rebecca Maloney attended the World's Fair in Chicago last Tuesday. Abel Barnum and James Sweet returned from Chicago on Wednesday after leaving Sunday eve ning. A youth named Collins at Garrett shot himself in the leg with a revolver a few days ago. the wound is ugly but not dangerous. Tordyce Wood, ex court stenographer and now secretary to Senator Vilas, visited his Garrett parents. Rev Willan Talbert attended Mrs Talbert’s father’s funeral near Yodiazapolis. Mrs Talbert has been in poor health. John Irohn left for Paulding county Ohio to drill several saddle wells, accompanied by Alex Owens of Green township. Prof Deidrich, former consul to Leipsie, may run as Republican for Congress. if so McNagny will be challenged. A Goshen Times note reports Elkhart county commissioners approved a 30‑foot iron bridge over a pike ditch on the Elkhart–Noble line, with joint funding, per Auditor notice to Noble county.
An old advertisement notes Beggs' Little Giant Pills as a remedy for liver trouble. It claims the product will please the liver and mentions sale by Thes A Huston.
Last Thursday near the railroad east of the city S C Wilhelm and a hired man uncovered a shoe box containing 24 pairs of miss es' shoes concealed under a stump. The box, intended for a merchant in Omaha, Nebraska, had been left in place recently and the contents were intact. The loss is believed to result from a car theft while the train stood on the east switch. Railroad authorities will receive the recovered shoes. The find suggests tramp theft of larger footwear.
