A wartime letter describes brutal acts by German forces in 1915, recounting a couple with a son in the French army missing their two daughters, and civilians maimed such as a girl blinded and boys ears cut. President Woodrow Wilson appeals to all citizens to pledge themselves by June twenty eighth to save and buy Government securities. He urges purchase of Liberty Bonds and War Savings Stamps to shift purchasing power to the United States and sustain the war effort.
