A Hudson boy was bitten by a blue racer but suffered no serious injury as the snake is nonpoisonous. Railway construction from Fayette to Angola remains undecided for summer. An ice house at Pleasant Lake lost one wall and about twenty five car loads of ice fell to the ground causing sizable loss. A Steuben township farmer was duped into signing a contract to act as agent for a patent wagon tongue lifter, later turning up as a bankable note for 160 dollars.

A Richland township horse owned by Rich ARD Crowe Lt. killed by lightning. A barn-raising accident at Jefferson township farm of Mr Frp ScHONAUER injures two men, with one man crushed by a heavy timber designed to topple and another badly hurt.

Levuy dies after accidental strychnine morphine mix-up amid drug errors and fatigue.
Crustlink Ohio June 15 1881 Ep New Era describes Tag New Era as a railroad town where most residents work for rail lines. The writer notes a culture of railroading, with locals thinking of themselves as first class locomotives and a community oriented around trains and rail workers.
