The Circuit Court schedule lists quarterly terms beginning the 2d Monday in March the 1st Monday in June the 3d Monday in October and the 4th Monday in December. Each term lasts four weeks if required.

John Smith and his ten year old son Virgil staged an odd training scene after a pig hidden near the track spooked a colt in training for the track. The boy rode the horse while the father mocked the pig’s role and tried to prove the horse would run without a pig. A Hartford woman announces she will assume no debts of her husband.
Reports from the Cheyenne agency indicate Kiowas Cheyennes Comanches and Arapahoes on the war path along the north fork of the Canadian river. They murdered a doctor’s son and stole horses and mules while destroying lodges and ponies of Indians who refused to join them. A general Indian war is deemed inevitable. In Iowa Gen Curtis prepares a large force at Fort Abraham Lincoln to move into the Black Hills by June 1 with Gatling guns, while a frontier expedition plans to depart for the region on June 1.
Practical guidance emphasizes temperate eating and regular meals. Warns against warm bread and late suppers while advocating tepid water as toothwash and airily ventilated rooms. Encourages mixed diet with predominant vegetables, proper bedding, and prompt removal of damp clothing to prevent illnesses.
