New Inheritance Tax Law Boosts State Revenue

Albert E Humke, state inheritance tax collector, estimates the new law will yield about 300000 dollars annually. The inheritance tax increase and state levy rise of 83 percent are expected to significantly lift state revenues. County treasurers report a six month tax take up 861836 dollars and 13 cents from the prior year period.

An exchange notes widespread rabbit damage across the state harming young fruit trees and cabbage fields. Observers report numerous rabbits along roads and call for the game commissioner to lift the ferret hunting ban to curb a looming pest problem.

Bees as Property When They Leave A Hive

The courts rule that a departing swarm becomes ownerless but is still claimable. A hive owner cannot trespass onto a neighbor to hire his own bees without consent. If the neighbor accepts the bees as from his neighbor, a trespass suit is barred. If not hired, the bees belong to the lot owner and may be deemed a nuisance, requiring removal or prosecution.
