Local school music department presents a program of solos duets and orchestra pieces led by Melvin M. Sean and instructors. The recital features Mozart and other composers and includes a wide array of student performances from fourth grade through teens. A post recital gathering follows hosted by church industrial society members.
The Knights of the BD seek shelter in town as Mayor Hoover presses for indoor lodging. A Calaboose scene arises with C Vos involved, while six supporters push for admittance to heat furnished facilities.

Industrial ladies quilting Tuesday, dinner Wednesday, Bible study Thursday, Sunday school at 9 30, morning worship 10 30, evening services 7 30. Edgar Hege travels from Clinton to Chicago for business and leisure. Albany kin learn of Erie panel featuring Mr and Mrs Glenn Olinger and two songs from Indiana. They reside with Mrs Mina Slocum pending spring work.
Frank M. Culbertson aged 61 died suddenly at his Maywood Illinois home on January 20 1936. He was born in Albany Illinois lived in Clarence and Salt Lake City and later Maywood. Survived by widow three sons Lyle, Rolland, Frank Jr, and a grandmother Mrs Eleanor Culbertson. Funeral services held in Clinton with Masonic rites. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery Cam ahead.
Garden Plain and Newton residents attended FL M Culberts funeral Saturday afternoon in Clinton. Attendees included Mr and Mrs A E Sweet Mrs Susan Murphy and Mr and Mrs Merle Lewis. The Arthur Huggins family visited George Kinney’s home. Rev A E Sammons of Clinton stayed with Robe family and joined lunch at Mr and Mrs S E Sweet. A Ladies Aid food sale was planned for Saturday Feb 22 with Miss Belle Hoff chairing and Mrs Alice Knapp aiding. Sunday services announced with Lincoln theme at Garden Plain and Newton Presbyterian Churches.
Surveyors advance route 80 grading from East Moline along the Mississippi through Hampton Rapid City Cordova Albany toward Galena. State funding from gas tax abolishment will aid White River Rock Island Henry Mercer counties, boosting a scenic river route that could draw Tri-Cities traffic and tourism.

A Sunday family gathering at Frank Hoerler's home near the village featured a fine repast hosted by the hostess. Attending were C. M. Hoover, Glenn Huggins, Robert Ferguson and his two sons Robert and Jid Wayre, with the latter family from nearby township.
Mrs. Glennugens, teaching in Fenton township, commuted daily through storms with the school duties. West Newon teacher Moss Gladys Snyder, Helen Fisher of Williams, Carl Tucker of Dublin, and Lewis Schipper of Riverobie joined the effort, along with students, making the trips commendable despite threatening conditions.
Harald Wennerstrom, badly hurt in a Parma plane crash at Rock Island, is slowly recovering in a Moline hospital. He will remain under care for months but is considered a fortunate young man despite the seriousness of his injuries.
