The pageant at 8 p.m. July 3 at Petersburg High features Nancy Fleming Miss America 1961 and current holder Polly Martens as the titleholder’s crown is contested.

Halibut prices soar to an all time average of 34 to 35 cents a pound. The season's top payout reaches $29,000 to a halibut boat. Landings last week totaled 228000 pounds, raising season total whale to 1692200 pounds. King salmon landings total 44000 from Jeanette and Superior. Scallops set a banner week with 88000 pounds, Brighton 26000, Florence 20000, Neptune 26500, Victor 24000.
