Record Fish Caught At Wrangell
Mrs Doris Iverson of Wrangell landed a 74 pound 4 ounce king salmon on light tackle the largest king ever caught in Alaska. The fish measured 52 inches long and 34.25 inches in girth after a 75 minute fight. The Derby runs to July 3 with Iverson favored to win an outboard motor prize.

Fisherman Arrested for Illegal Gill Netting on Stikine River
Ben Olson, a local fisherman, was arrested Wednesday by Fish and Wildlife agents for illegal fishing. He allegedly gill netted for salmon near the porth arm of the Stikine River with a net set closer than the legal 100 yards to another fisherman's gear. Olson was arraigned before U. S. Commissioner Dale Hirt and released on $500 bond.
