State Applies For ARA Grant For Fishery Center
The state has applied for an Area Redevelopment Administration grant of 1 100 000 for a fishery and oceanographic research center and a research vessel. The center will be built at Kodiak and used jointly by the state fish and game department and the University of Alaska Institute of Marine Science. Funds for expansion, if the grant is received, would come from federal fisheries research support agencies.

Word came this week that Le Roi Brennan, 36, of Tulea Oklahoma, died of cancer. Reared in Petersburg, he left there in 1927. He will be remembered by former schoolmates and friends. He is survived by his widow Jacqueline two sons and his brother Richard.
