Nine of ten entrants in the second annual Capital To Capital Yacht Race spent the day in Petersburg awaiting the final lap to Juneau. The race crowd forecast a close finish with Blonde of Portland leading for the longest non stop run. One yacht failed to appear the Marlin of San Francisco reportedly fell for Alaska's scenery and withdrew.

Reconditioning Under Way for Old Hospital Occupancy Soon

Repairs To Pipe Line Power Plant At Crystal Lake
After a boat was built and placed on Crystal Lake repairs were attempted on the reservoir basin. Leaks in late winter caused sixteen days of no regular power plant service at Blind Slough. Tree pollen on the lake surface hindered underwater work. Repairs included installing new air valves to seal the line and prevent air locks. The pipeline was cemented, new anchors added for greater security.
