New Gantadian Ship Alaska Prince Joins Alaska Freight Service

Pan American plane crashes in India killing 15 aboard

Petersburg firemen arrange for fair weather on Friday July 4 for the annual celebration featuring a parade sports events boat races and a big evening dance. Kenai Forest Fire Takes Bad Shift
The Kenai Peninsula forest fire shifted suddenly and threatened a small fishing town of about 600 at the mouth of the Kenai River. A southwest wind fanned the flames as crews from the Alaska Road Commission and Alaska Fire Control Service battled to keep the fire from crossing the Moose and Kenai rivers and spreading toward Skilak Lake and Fort Richardson hospital.
