Dave Doran Dies In Seattle Purser of the Alaska
Dave Doran longtime purser of the SS Alaska died in Seattle. Funeral services were led by Rev Lawrence J Mitchell. Doran served 32 years with the Alaska Steamship line, retiring in 1950, and was buried at Mt Pleasant cemetery on June 5.

Daily Airmail Expands Service To Kake From Petersburg
Effective June 8, residents of Kake receive near daily mail from Petersburg. Flights depart at 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday with stops at Kake and other points. Alaska Coastal planes from Petersburg carry mail to Kake Tyee Washington Bay and Pillar Bay on Monday Wednesday and Friday, with Monday also serving Saginaw Bay. Tuesday Thursday and Saturday service runs to Kake Port Armstrong Port Conclusion Port Walter if weather permits.
