Watch Night service unites Petersburg churches
A watch night service and fellowship bring together Lutheran, Assembly of God, Salvation Army, Episcopal, and First Presbyterian churches in Petersburg. Program begins at 9 p.m. with fun and fellowship, 10:30 refresh ments and potluck, and 11:15 special music featuring all churches with Rev. David Crawford of First Presbyterian as speaker. Everyone is welcome.

Clara Hannah service today in Sitka
Clara Helene Hannah, aged 83, died at Pioneers' Hospital Sitka after four and a half years as a patient. A London-born immigrant who moved to Sitka as a girl, she married John Montague Hannah in 1901 in San Francisco. She served as Petersburg Public Library librarian for 17 years. Survived by daughter Verne Miller Petersburg. grandchildren Kent Miller Benny Spray. infant great grandchildren Meredith Miller Brian Spray of Anchorage. Funeral by Rev. Lee W. Stratman December 31 at Pioneer's Cemetery Sitka.

U S Senator Ernest Gruening will visit Petersburg next Monday on his way back to Washington D C. He will attend a host dinner at the Rustic Inn at p.m. Monday with a public reception in room 101 at the Tides Inn afterward. Reservations should be made by phoning the Rustic Inn or Mrs Lyle Roundtree or L M Williams Jr. then and Tuesday morning he will proceed to Wrangell.

Benny Marshal Found Dead After Cold Night
Benny Marshal formerly Bernabe Calvia was found outside his home after apparently slipping and hitting his head in freezing conditions. Police say he walked home by cab Wednesday night and died from the cold, discovered by police and Roy Anderson and Cortney Lyons. The Philipines born man naturalized as Benny Marshal, date of birth June 8 1908, had family and friends notified after failing to appear Thursday. Also included is a report on the Chamber of Commerce Christmas decoration contest won by ATN Roy Lands Family Shoe Mart Petersburg Liquor Store and Petersburg Liquor Store with judges noting jury changes and only two categories had entries, store windows and home decorations.

Special Extension on Deer Season in Southeast Alaska

Chief Bradley Transferred to Long Island

Population rises in Petersburg in 1965 vital stats
Deputy Magistrate Hugh Tallent reports 1965 Petersburg births reached 65 with 31 deaths. Some events involve residents from Rake Wrangell and nearby areas. Marriages totaled 24 for the year after a month with none, compared to 36 births in 1945.
