The Alaska Health Education and Welfare Council appeals for public donations to fund its monthly newsletter distribution in Alaska, support the third annual meeting at College in August 1957, and pay a $600 lobbyist fee for health legislation efforts. Former Resident Dan Hocson Dies in Juneau
Dan Hocson aged 61 died after a sudden illness in Juneau last Wednesday. Funeral services were conducted at Memorial Presbyterian Church. A lifelong resident, Hocson worked as a canery worker and later as a barber after moving to Juneau in 1941. He is survived by his wife Catherine Hocson and children Peter and Patricia.

Petersburg hunters led the Southeast Alaska deer season with about 1200 deer killed in the Petersburg area according to Fish and Wildlife Service data. Hospital Receives Gifts and New Equipment
Petersburg General Hospital greeted Christmas with gifts from the Hospital Guild. New items include a glass door cabinet for the operating room a stainless steel instrument table for the delivery room and three over bed tables for patient rooms. Hospital Superintendent Jeanne Ridley praised the Guild's work and noted gifts of candy cookies and newspaper subscriptions from the community.
