Postponed games may move to Monday or Tuesday and if unable to play, the tournament could be canceled for the year. Lester L. Disabled Workers Must Apply For SS Payment
Severely disabled workers aged 50 to 65 who may qualify for Social Security disability benefits must apply at their district office before January 1, 1958. Workers who apply by December end can receive back pay to July 1957. later applications lose back pay and may lose eligibility. Eligibility requires a severe disability and five years of Social Security work in the prior decade, including 1.5 years in the three years before disability began.

The territorial board of liquor control approved a two hour extension of closing hours for six hours following New Year’s Eve. The decision allows bars in Alaska to stay open later on New Year’s Eve only and follows an earlier proposal for a longer nine day holiday period.

Vikings Fall To Juneau In Weekend Basketball Setback
