A school bulletin notes that students including Margaret Roundtree and Dorothy Jacobson are in good health. The brief mentions third grade pupils such as Francis Fryer Hangeth Vernon Heimdahl and Donald MacKechnie with a continued page reference.
The Alassi Steamship Co. liner Northwest ern sailed at 10 o clock with 45 passengers including Mrs W N Abbes and Abbes listed for Petersburg. The vessel arrived at 10 this morning and left at noon for the north and westward.
Petersburg’s local high school team lost 28 to 27 to Kake in a tightly contested opener. Frank Gordon and Wee Willie Jackson stood out for Petersburg while Ernest Williams starred for Kake. The home squad showed speed and fight but struggled with ball handling and finishing baskets.
Rev W J Markestad leads Sunday School at 10:00 A M on New Years Watch night service and social evening. New Years service Wednesday at 8 PM. Frank Hayner took passage on the Alameda with a stock shipment from local ranches and will return after the New Year.

N C MacGregor expects installation of Photophone equipment within two to three weeks with showing of talking pictures by late January. Reports from Blind Slough near Crystal Lake indicate rising water 1000 feet above the powerhouse supplying the system. A bad leak flooded last Saturday after the dam allegedly failed and was repaired. no new leaks found, and heavy rain could ease concerns as the auxiliary town plant is overhauled and ready for use.

The Petersburg Business and Professional Women's Club hosted its first public entertainment, a Christmas Ball at Song of Norway Hall. Decorations by Miss Mabel Otness thrilled guests, with cotton snowflakes and blue white curtains creating a moonlit scene. Dancing ran from 9:30 pm to 2 am, marking the event a huge success.

Democratic leaders in the House plan a stand after the holiday recess against what they call President Hoover's Commission Form of Government. They argue the president’s commissions usurp legislative and administrative powers and must be checked.
