Morris Harden Dies Suddenly En Route to Iowa
Morris Harden 36, civil engineer on the Milk of Highway project, died suddenly last Monday at General Hospital after recovering from a major operation. He had written letters and planned to mail them. His body was shipped on the Alaska to Montezuma Iowa, accompanied by Miss M Olson. J E Harden is his father and Ester Harden Nixon of Aberdeen SD is a sister. He served in World War I, enlisting 1918 at Columbus Barracks Missouri and discharged as a private in Company G 43rd Infantry at Bowie Texas on June 30 1919.

Former Juneauite Receives Lenin Decoration

Trade Courses Are Arranged For Alaska Students
Local interest in diesel engineering and navigation courses drew over fifty men to hear A. E. Schoettler, territorial vocational education leader. Twelve signed for diesel, seventeen for navigation, and twelve for both. Classes begin first Monday in January with Carl Vevelstad teaching navigation and Forrest Fryer diesel engineering. Subscriptions for Petersburg bonds at 4 percent are invited until January 15, 1936.

PWA Contract Awarded for Front Street Wall
At a Chamber of Commerce session Mayor Locken announced the City Council awarded the rock retaining wall contract on Front Street to Stock and Wright as the lowest bidder. They have one month to arrange preliminary work and must begin within ten days of council orders, weather permitting. Community Christmas Tree Project Deferred Over Treasury

War Dept Contracts 100 Planes to Northrop

Rifle Range May Be Constructed at Petersburg
At a Petersburg Rifle Club meeting Jay Williams of the Juneau Forestry Office outlined plans for an outdoor range to be built by the Forest Service near the water reservoir. The project would include three standard U S Army size ranges and a locker building with target frames, at an estimated cost of about 4000 dollars borne by the Forest Service. Local CCC workers would perform the construction, continuing the Sandy Beach road project with aid from E R A crews arranged by J M Wyckoff.

City Council to reconsider winter electric heating rate
