Petersburg Hospital Guild held its December meeting and announced a final fund total of 1,973.30 with a 26.70 transfer to the Petersburg hospital building fund making 2,000. The Carnival and Moose dance boosted receipts while the Charity Box committee reported 1,754 raised with items left for sale. A memorial fund was created for a permanent room in the new hospital named the Petersburg Hospital Guild Memorial Fund room.

Council Supports City Curfew for School Children
At a Monday meeting the council backed the school board curfew proposal after parents largely approved. The plan sets 10 30 p.m. for under 14 on school nights and 11 p.m. other nights with 12 30 a.m. to 1 a.m. for 15 to 17 year olds. Wingard noted funds for a school nurse cannot be from territorial education funds. The council also approved a $400 monthly salary for the hospital superintendent and voted to exit the appliance business, continuing to dispose of on hand wiring supplies.
