Two paper firms competed for an 8750 million board foot Alaska timber sale in Juneau including lands south of the city Admiralty Island coast and Yakutat parcels. St Regis Paper Co of New York won with a bid of 5.65 per thousand board feet. The 50 year sale requires a pulp mill in the area by 1971 and operates on sustained yield.

Centennial Group Elects Plans Pilot Aquarium in Petersburg
The Petersburg Centennial Committee met to advance Alaska centennial plans for 1967. Patti Norheim was named secretary and Carroll Clausen treasurer as two 30 gallon pilot tanks for a future Petersburg marine aquarium were arranged. A permanent project grant may be available and 40 centennial medallions allocated for local sale profits.

Sponsored by the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity, Tate, a freshman and daughter of Mr and Mrs Norman Tate, was unanimously chosen with escort Juan Carlos Martinez of Santiago Chile, a senior and fraternity member.
