The group protested the INPFC recommendation to allow Japanese halibut fishing, urging Kennedy to withhold approval and urging a treaty revision to strengthen stock protection and allow science based limits. Engineer Looks At City Plans
N W Haner, engineer for Pacific Coast Consultants of Portland and Anchorage, visited Petersburg this week to gather data for preliminary estimates on proposed city projects. The city seeks Park Street addition street sewer and water upgrades to create building lots and to boost water capacity. City Manager K L Dotts says Haner was brought in to see if plans fit the accelerated public works program with federal grant support. Haner’s firm aims to have preliminary estimates and an application for public works funds ready by January 1.
