The Petersburg Fishermen's Union held a prominent meeting at the Pastime to review challenges for the coming year. Gold Medal Basketball Tourney Opens Feb 25 in Juneau
The eleventh annual invitational Gold Medal Basketball Tournament runs Feb 25 to March 2 in Juneau with ten Southeastern Alaska teams. The double elimination event is sponsored by the Juneau Lions Club which will select teams from top winter city league records. Last year Sitka ANB won the tournament.

Trapper Calvin Zuver Fined for Mink Theft in Alaska
Calvin Zuver pleaded guilty in U S Commissioner Joel Wing's court to illegally taking possession and transporting a mink. He received a $1000 fine a 90 day suspended jail sentence and a five year revocation of his trapping license. The mink was alleged taken on Middle Island in the Kashevarof group.

City League Basketball Opens With Mixed Results
The Petersburg City League opened last Tuesday with ANB beating PHS 42 17 and Moose edging Elks 51 50. ANB’s Dick Kito led with 17 points while Moose’s Wally Swansen scored 22. Games continue Tuesdays at 7 60 and 8 30 pm with 50 cent admission and 15 percent gate funding for gym equipment.
