Military Honors For Robert Olson
Parteral services with military honors were held Wednesday for Robert B. Olson who died last Saturday in a Petersburg fire. Olson a logger living here since 1954 worked previously in construction with Empire Construction Company. He was born in Volga City Iowa March 16 1922 and served in World War II in the signal corps with 27 months overseas spending 87 days on the front lines in Italy. His decorations include the ETO ribbon and three battle stars. Survivors include his wife Beryl Jone Irene a sister Betty Fricky Billings Montana and brothers Dale Phoenix Everett Tacoma Guy Jesse Kenneth San Jose and Donald Billings. The Rev David Crawford conducted the service with the American Legion and VFW. Alaska National Guard provided a firing squad and taps were sounded. Out-of-town relatives Everett Kenneth Donald Olson and Mrs Guy Olson attended.

Beaver season by emergency order in Alaska units 1 4
Alaska Board of Fish and Game approved an early beaver season from December 15 1965 to January 22 1966 in game management units 1 through 4. A late kate beaver trapping season runs February 15 to May 15 1966 with a yearly bag limit of 50 beaver. The January Alaska draft quota set at 62 with physicals planned for all eligible men through age 19.

Middleton Refloated After Grounding Near Whitewater Bay
The Middleton, a Peters iburg crab fishing boat skippered by Lloyd Pederson, ran aground in Whitewater Bay. The Little Lady, led by Neal Mac Donald, assisted within an hour. Coast Guard Cutter Sweetbriar arrived within two hours. A hole in the starboard hull was patched, pumps placed onboard, and the Middleton was re floated just after midnight. The Sweetbriar towed the Middleton to Petersburg, expected there this afternoon. Lester White accompanied Pederson aboard.
