The Sons of Norway Petersburg lodge marked its fiftieth anniversary on November 26 with a membership dinner served by the Emblem Club. Attendees included Grand District President Henry Carlson of Everett and Arne Espeseth. A radio program, piano solo by Alice Fredericksen, and reminiscences by Knut Thompson and others highlighted the event, noting 60 original members and only two remaining in Petersburg.

KMC Boats May Yield To Trucks Under Alaska Plan
James Pinkerton announced a plan to merge KMC with a new Alaska corporation to offer daily door to door truck service from Seattle via Prince Rupert to Alaska. Pioneer Alaska cannery leader Herbert Kittilsby dies
Herbert Kittilsby, a pioneer of the Alaska salmon canning industry, died Friday in a Seattle hospital after a long illness. He was 69 and spent years with Diamond K Packing Co in Wrangell from 1920 to the late 1930s. He later headed Hydaburg Cooperative Cannery and, after retiring, lived in Wrangell and Seattle.
