Vikings Win Kinsman Tourney In Prince Rupert
The PHS Viking basketball team returned Monday night on the ferry after winning the Kinsman International Tournament in Prince Rupert B C on November 26 and 27. They beat Terrace High 71 49 Centennial of Vancouver 69 50 and Prince Rupert Rainmakers 61 58. Coach Stephen Sherry praised Tyler Durkin Silva and Harp and captain Bud Hammer for strong play. Hansen of Centennial scored 35 against Prince Rupert and 30 against Terrace, and was guarded by Chris Jensen. The Vikings trailed 50 45 late in the fourth before a 24 9 run sealed the win over Centennial.

Hatchery Bid Set For January
Alaska Gov. William Egan announces bids for the Crystal Lake fish hatchery at Petersburg will be advertised soon with awards in mid January. The facility aims to incubate eggs by next fall and stock waters in Southeastern Alaska by spring 1973. First production will include king and coho salmon and rainbow trout. The project, costing over $2 million, will be funded by the 1968 hatchery bond issue and operated by the Department of Fish and Game. Embankment work has begun at Blind Slough site near Petersburg.

Egan predicts Alaska to incur 1980 state debt of 1.3 billion

Fish Wier Dismantled After Winter Study
A six and a half month steelhead and cutthroat study at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game fish wier on Petersburg Creek ended November 1. Project began April 15, 1971, with pier and A-frame cabin to assess if the two species support a larger research effort and aid in management of sport fisheries.
