Petersburg Cold Storage to Modernize Alaska Plant
Petersburg Alaska plans a 165000 modernization to upgrade the cold storage plant making it one of the state’s most modern. Ice making capacity will rise from 16.5 tons to 20 tons daily and ice delivered to fishing vessels will be at minus 17 degrees or colder. New equipment includes a dock hoist and an ice system delivering 30 tons per hour with faster ic ing of boats and reduced temperature loss during transfer. An ice storage bin will hold nearly 2 million pounds of fish products. Equipment supplied by Lewis Refrigeration Co. of Woodinville Washington, engineer support by Dick Quamn.
