Standard Oil Plant Damaged By Fire In Ketchikan
A blaze at a Standard Oil facility in Ketchikan destroyed the dock, a two story frame house, and large oil tanks. Firefighters saved storage tanks and halted the fire before noon, with about a million gallons of petroleum products lost and no injuries reported. Beginning from a welders torch on the dock, the fire caused estimated damages near 450000 dollars. Ambulance crews stood by as a precaution.

Burial Service for Jacob Heikelman at Petersburg Lutheran Church
Final rites were held Tuesday afternoon at the Petersburg Lutheran Church for Jacob Heikelman a longtime resident born May 5 1867 in Copenhagen Denmark. He died July 27 in Petersburg hospital after living in Montana earning U S citizenship in 1902 and settling in Petersburg in 1921. Pallbearers included Ed Nelson Willie Anderson Earl Ohmer Karl Hatlen Knut Thompson and Lester Elkins with burial in Petersburg cemetery.

Three Kake fishermen Henry Mason 19 Harry Sumdum 45 Frank Mason 36 disappeared July 21 24 and are believed drowned.
