FAIRBANKS August 1 The death rate from tuberculosis is nine times as great among Alaska natives and twice as large among white residents as in the United States. Dr Arthur Bernstein of Cook County Hospital Chicago said this after recent study. He spoke at the Territorial Medical Association convention and noted funds for hospital beds and segregation of TB patients were needed, though a Senate supplemental appropriation had been defeated. The doctors plan to return to Chicago around August 10 after visiting Itka Juneau and Ketchikan.
