Alamogordo officials capped a lengthy session with water rate debates for winter and summer alfalfa farming, a potential Carl place resort plan discussed with J G Barrett, and the election of Martin Michel as town manager though the post creation faced opposition.
Former U S Senator Holm C Bursum accuses irregularities in the Bratton win, alleging illegal votes from government and military voters, denial of Pueblo Indians rights, martial law influence, ballot tampering in Fort Sumner and Quay county, and manipulation at Elks Club Tucumcari and De Vargas hotel Santa Fe. Bursum names W F Zumbrumm and A B Renehan as counsel.
Chicago November 2 The warden of Sing Sing with experience directing over a hundred executions told a Chicago audience that capital punishment is a failure. He argued that it deters by neither nature nor certainty and that life imprisonment without pardon should replace executions except with state Supreme Court orders. He cited crime reductions in abolitionist states and noted executions brutalize society like war.
Las Vegas flagman L. G. Buckner foiled a lone masked bandit during an eastbound Santa Fe passenger train between Nolan and Colmar New Mexico. Buckner wrestled the robber from the car, was badly beaten, and sustained internal injuries. the thief fled as the train neared Colmar. Authorities pursued along the route to Raton, with Buckner hospitalized at La Junta.
A group of Alamogordo and Otero county teachers traveled to Albuquerque to join the New Mexico Educational Association session. Leaders like Supt. J. H. Hayes and Miss Carrie Covington will attend with others such as Ro. Soellner and Miss Dolores Whitechurch. Herron plans to speak on accrediting high school music. The Presbyterian Junior Christian Endeavors plan a Saturday candy sale at 3:30 p.m. at the church.

The New Mexico Baptist Convention will open in Alamogordo on Tuesday morning November 10 with the Laymen's Convention at 8:30 and the General Convention at 9. The Laymen's session continues Tuesday while the General Convention runs to Friday afternoon. The Women’s Missionary Union meets Tuesday in the Baptist church with Mrs. W. C. Thomas presiding and closes Wednesday morning. Wednesday evening features a report on Christian Education highlighting Montezuma College. Public attendance invited.
The roe for Cloudcroft will depart Alamogordo at 7 a m on November 4 and return from Cloudcroft in the afternoon at 4 p m This schedule gives teachers time to attend the Otero County Teachers Association meeting and to view Cloudcroft area.
Gov A T Hannett issues a proclamation directing sheriffs and peace officers statewide to bolster enforcement of the state game laws. The order calls for cooperation with the State Game Department to reduce violations to a minimum and cites authority under Section 17, Chapter 101, Laws 1915.
Las Vegas New Mexico November 2 Governor Hannett refused a petition from Mrs R R Larkin and Mrs L I Taylor asking that a representative woman from each major political party join the committee drafting the proposed election code for a special legislative session. The request cited the state federation and women's clubs and was met with surprise by the governor.
Frank M Rhomberg longtime Alamogordo resident and postmaster in New Mexico died suddenly October 25 at Snow Creek while with friends He was born May 16 1872 in Dubuque Iowa and lived in Alamogordo Tularosa and Pasadena before settling in Banning He was a musician and former member of Alamogordo band and his funeral was held with Masonic rites in Banning and Inglewood Cemetery noted for his civic kindness and business integrity.

Last Saturday Artesia traveled to Tularosa to face Tulie. Artesia won 27 to 0 despite a slower start, and the team aims to rebound for the Thanksgiving game with Alamo at Artesia. Tulie showed improvement and fought hard throughout.
