Decoration Day Parade To Leave Court House At Nine

Driver in Bent death is sentenced to prison
Roy Knight of Springer New Mexico was convicted as the driver of the car that killed George Bent on May 1. He received a sentence of three to five years in the penitentiary at Raton. Knight drove a blind car at high speed with liquor aboard and was intoxicated at the time. He initially pleaded not guilty but then changed to guilty.

In Justice Starcup's court this morning A A J L and S P Cope land brokers faced charges for a camp fire that burned forest land later extinguished by Ranger Russell and others. The Copelands traveled from Oklahoma to Mesilla valley to shop cotton with 13 children among them. Officers arrested them but Judge Stalcup gave a lenient lecture and remitted fines and costs.
