Town Board Meets Prospective Buyer for Light Plant
Carl Einhart and Dr. Cowan from Roswell met the Alamogordo town board with a $27,000 offer for the electric light and power plant. The current board does not intend to sell at that price, and any sale would require a town referendum. Einhart heads Pecos Valley Light and Power Co which operates multiple plants in New Mexico Texas and Arizona and recently acquired Clovis. The Alamogordo plant reportedly earned about $4,000 last year and is not considered a white elephant.

Vast forest tracts in desert states in New Mexico Arizona
The Forestry Service shows New Mexico and Arizona hold one-fifth of their area as timber with yellow pine. The states total 36.5 million acres of timber containing 387 billion cords of wood. An unbroken yellow pine stretch runs from Elephant Butte dam through the Grand Canyon Kaibab Forest. Last year 268 million board feet were harvested from the two states.

A May 26 Prescott dispatch reports Allen Holder a 25 year old sheep man died after a late Tuesday afternoon shooting near Aquila. Claude Stephens of Hayes Cattle Peeples Valley was jailed in Yavapai County on murder charges. Stephens, son of Uncle Dan Stephens of Weed, left the area years ago and sought bond. details of the dispute remain scarce.

San Diego May 24 Three amphibian planes will aid the Navy's expeditionary force to map Alaska this summer. The group of aviators photographers and mechanics sails from San Diego on the Gannet to Ketchikan with a Sand Point Washington unit to photograph about 40000 square miles of Alaska. Lieut B H Wyatt leads the flight under Admiral Hughes with seven officers and 38 enlisted men.

Santa Fe May 19 The state highway commission approves an 800000 road program issuing 300000 debentures with federal aid for half a million. Woman Found Shot Dead In La Luz Canyon Home
Alamogordo police and a Tul arosa coroner's jury investigate the death of Mrs. John Letters at her La Luz canyon home. A verdict of death by self-inflicted pistol wound was rendered. The Letters, recent arrivals from Philadelphia, had moved to the Doe Pender farm and were fixing the house. The husband said she appeared ill Tuesday morning and, after he left for a doctor, returned to find her dead with a pistol at her feet. She had recently been released from Rousseau hospital after a leg wound from a prior incident. A sister from Portland was notified and journeyed to Alamogordo.

District highway engineer W. C. Davidson is due from Roswell to review the plan for a new road to Las Cruces. The route likely runs to the Mack Missile site then west skirting the sands along the east side before following the old stage path toward Las Cruces. Change of venue not granted in Tittsworth murder case
Attorneys for Tittsworth Hobbs and Simer argued for a change of venue to Dona Ana county in the State of New Mexico versus Will Tittsworth Hunt Hobbs and Robt Simer charged with murder. The court denied the petition but granted a continuance to August 30 1926 for three key witnesses out of state. Jurors were summoned for the June term and instructed to appear August 30.

Lightning Strikes Town Causing Property Damage
A Tuesday night rainstorm brought several lightning strikes to town. A tree on Tenth Street in front of the Brubaker home lost a large bark section, and at the Sellemyer residence on 16th Street the bolt damaged insulation and wires, with molten metal igniting areas of the house.
