Death of John Berntsen 79 at Alamogordo home
John Berntsen 79 died at his Alamogordo residence on Friday May 20 after a long illness. Survived by two daughters and four grandchildren from his first marriage, he had lived in Alamogordo since 1908 and left a sizable estate to relatives. Miss Alice Reed traveled from Denver to help in his final days.

Funeral Services for Dr E R McKinley
Funeral services for the late Dr E R McKinley were held at 3 30 Sunday afternoon at the H S Auditorium with a Presbyterian choir and several pastors delivering short eulogies. The body lay in state for viewing and was later taken to the Geren Leadinghouse mortuary before shipment to Athens Ohio for burial in a mausoleum crypt. Don McKinley, the son, accompanied the casket east as he returned from Schenectady New York. Additionally the new fire ensemble held a practice and a bi weekly schedule and a test of all fire plugs is under way.

A. Ross retires effective May 20 from the Southern Pacific Railway Alamogordo treating plant after 18 years there. He served with Chas Wigzgitt, then succeeded to the superintendency. He is succeeded by Mr. Scott, a 1905 hire. Ross totals 36 years in rail service. He will travel with family to California this summer.

Death of Mack Missik in Alamogordo office years
Mack Missik died at his Alamogordo home on Tuesday after a period of illness following a stroke at a White Sands picnic. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church with a local quartet performing. Missik, born 1868 in Gillispie, worked in newspapers and cement contracting before joining the Alamogordo News staff. He served as town recorder and clerk, was a Methodist, and member of the Knights of Pythias and Woodmen of America. He is survived by his widow Laura Stacy and a son, plus a sister in St Louis.

They have acquired the springs in recent years after title lapsed and plan improvements including cleaning a reservoir and exploring a cliff tunnel.
