A one day term of the District Court for Otero County convened with Judge Carl Duniton substituting for Judge Irenger. Former Tularosa Man Killed in California Crash
Guillermo Gandara son of Mr and Mrs Avaristo Gandara of Tularosa was killed in Sawtelle California on May 3 when the car he rode in swerved to avoid collision and he leaped free, his head hitting a curb. Three others injured in the crash. Gandara had lived in Tularosa for years before moving to Sawtelle six years ago.

WO FIRES THREATEN SOUTH WEST MILL
A fire alarm sounded for a blaze in debris at the Southwest mill fuel and sawdust area. High winds hampered quenching but the town fire department and mill crew contained the fire with only loss of salable fuel. A second fire hit the steel house engine room but caused no material damage.

Picnic at Sands Honors Local Teachers Last Friday
The Lions and Rotarians sponsored a picnic on the white sands last Friday evening to honor Alamogordo teachers. About 125 people, including nearly all grade and high school staff, arrived by 6 o clock after a truck delivered refreshments to the harbor area. Games followed the excellent refreshments, with expenses underwritten by the sponsoring clubs.

Town of Alamogordo Buying Its Own Bonds
Alamogordo continues its policy of purchasing its water bonds rather than funding a sinking fund. A representative from a banking firm in Cincinnati secured $3,000 of Alamogordo water bonds at 99 on short notice. Purchases totaled $17,000 in the past year and $25,000 since the policy began, with plans to buy $15,000 more in the coming year.

State College May 16 The New Mexico Agricultural College reports that six pedigreed White Leghorn cockerels raised at the Experiment Station boosted flock egg production. Offspring of hens with records over 300 eggs lifted overall flock yields from 123 to 171 eggs per bird from 1923 to 1928, with a 48 egg gain over a 500 bird flock. The study notes sons spread the influence, and the flock now numbers about 500 birds.
