New Federal Aid Road Projects Planned for New Mexico
The State Highway Commission sets June 4 as tentative bid date for four federal aid projects including No. 106 A surfacing 12.4 miles on the Alamogordo El Paso highway near Orogrande. The route will bypass sand dunes and shorten the 54 mile Texas line to Valmont segment. Otero county officials work on right of way to reroute near the railroad track from Orogrande to connect with project 106 B. The new road will be faster and straighter, avoiding the long detour past the McNew place and the chute the chutes section.

Gene Fromme Dies in Tucson Tuberculosis Claim
Gene Fromme age 26 former Alamo Gordo boy died Wednesday in Tucson Arizona from tuberculosis. He lived with parents in Alamogordo 1910 to 1912 then moved to El Paso where he joined the El Paso Times staff as a sports writer. His body was shipped to Los Angeles for burial with his parents, Mr and Mrs Chas Fromme.

Mrs George A Campfield died in Albuquerque Thursday night from goiter and complications. Funeral services were held Saturday at French mortuary with Rev Thomas K Clement presiding.
