The Junior Woman's Club met at Mrs. KE B Lewis's home and postponed officer elections until next year. Alamogordo Rifle and Pistol Club reports its first shoulder to shoulder match loss to Roswell Rifle Club due to gusting wind and sand. Weather statewide hindered scores while Roswell led with 331 and Silver City 321. Alamogordo 0, White Signal 291, Lordsburg 273, Hatch forfeited.
The Mescalero public school closed last Thursday. Nell Dale returned to Alamogordo. Father Albert Braun tours Phoenix and Los Angeles. Rev Kempers and family visit Grand Canyon then Santa Fe. Chas Bodine and others attend Boy Scout camp near Albuquerque. An epidemic caused colds and hospitalizations among Indian children and staff. Herbert Balucha dies at government hospital and is buried at the Dutch Reformed Church.
The Woman's Missionary Society of the Methodist Church met all day last Thursday at the church. Rev Thurston spoke in the morning, a covered dish luncheon followed with fifteen attendees, the afternoon focused on business planning monthly summer meetings, and a farewell party for Mrs Missik was hosted at Rev and Mrs Thurston's home with an Indian ring and earrings presented.
