Lawyer J L Johnson captured near Alamogordo on fraud charge
Deputy Haynes captured J L Johnson alias Joseph Lawson near the Ab llunter ranch thirty miles southwest of Alamogordo. He was wanted in Roswell for obtaining money under false pretenses and admitted full name as Joseph Lawson Johnson after a telegram confirmed it. He is about 45, an attorney, and walked most of the way from Roswell. A fugitive from El Paso, a negro killer, was found hiding on a northbound train near Alamo Sordo, wrapped in blankets to appear as a roll of luggage.
