McBride and guest speakers from Lubbock Tech and Las Cruces highlighted talks on Rotary’s international reach and cultural challenges.

Wayne McCommis of Alamogordo, student at Roswell NM Military Institute, broke the 220 yard dash record with 21.7 seconds and tied his 100 yard dash mark at 9.8 seconds. He won the broad jump with 22 feet 10 1/2 inches and was high point man of the meet at Canyon Texas.

Alamogordo friends learned Russell G. Herron died suddenly last Saturday in Monrovia California from a hemorrhage after writing he felt better. Funeral in Chicago Friday May 9. He was a musician and former secretary of Alamogordo Chamber of Commerce. He leaves his mother Mrs Ray Walter of Santa Ana, a brother Robert H Herron of Chicago, two sisters Mrs Predia Standt and Mrs Margaret Johnson of Chicago, and three children Dorris May Russell Jr and Margaret Ann.
