Plans Laid For Better Forest Fire Protection
The U S Forest Service and New Mexico State Employment Service with Alamogordo town help finished plans for meeting forest fire emergencies this fire season. They seek public cooperation in prevention and rapid response. The Employment Service lists adults able to perform arduous work and reports to the Forest Service warehouse when called. Court Rules Against Jim Crow Real Estate Covenants
The Supreme Court ruled 6 to 0 that Jim Crow real estate agreements cannot be enforced by courts or police and minorities may not be evicted when buying or renting such properties. Tenden Davis 34 former Alamo Gordo resident died at home in Joplin Missouri April 29 after a short illness. The body was brought to Alamogordo for burial with funeral services held Saturday at the Church of Maket. Burial honors and attendees include Homer Tand M C Joyner Roy Holcomb Frank Crawford Henry Melton Cherley Thurman. Survivors include widow Martha Frances Garrison seven children two sons Elmer Davis Duncan Oklahoma and John Davis Joplin Missouri two daughters Mrs T J Hart Amarillo and Mrs Bertha Risner Huntington Park California eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family moved from El Paso to Alamogordo in 1930, then to Joplin about 18 months ago to be with son John. State Game Warden Elliott S Barker announced pre season trout plantings in Otero County. Five thousand legal size trout will be released in Penasco between Mayhill and Elk 2500 in Tularosa creek and 2500 in Fresnal creek all ready for the May 30 fishing season opening.
