Pumping Starts To Supply Water In Alamogordo
Alamogordo officials began pumping a well in Alamo Canyon to prevent a domestic water shortage. April usage totaled 3,598,075 cubic feet, with Holloman AFB drawing 1,162,600. Mrs Ageda Carrillo Dies At Local Hospital
Mrs Ageda Gonzalez Carrillo 45 of Tularosa died Monday morning after two days in the hospital. Mullins O'Dell handled funeral arrangements. Services were held at St Francis Catholic church in Tularosa at 9 AM Tuesday with burial in the local Catholic cemetery. She was born April 23, 1902.

Truck Fire Injures Eddie Tucker at Melton Service Station
Eddie Tucker a former Roswell carpenter now with Holloman AFB sustained serious burns to his arms face and back when his pickup exploded while removing a leaking gasoline tank at the Melton Service Station north of Town on the highway Firemen quelled the blaze and Sheriff Wayne McCommis took him to the hospital Tucker a recent Alamogordo resident had been there only a few weeks and said there was no nearby fire or smoke.

Sergeant Dies In Auto Mishap At Holloman
Sergeant Benjamin Allen of Holloman Air Force Base dies from neck injury after a late night crash on a highway. He was 22, born in Princewick West Virginia, joined the Air Force in 1949, and had owned a 1950 Ford with only four miles on it. His companion Sergeant Joe Allen remains hospitalized with injuries and is expected to stay about 30 days. Funeral arrangements are pending as his mother Mrs. Mary Ola Allen is notified.

More than 310 attendees filled the 27th annual state P TA convention in Albuquerque held Thursday through Saturday. The theme was The P TA Child Around the World and included speeches by regional educators and Alamogordo participants led by Mrs. J T Foley and Mrs. Lucille Alexander. The event opened with a buffet supper and a three hour business session followed by Friday luncheon in UNM’s new men’s dormitory, its first use.

The opening of the swimming pool is set for 10 a m Sunday May 7. Federal aid eyed to ease nationwide school shortages

Queen of May Crowned at NMSB Fiesta Dance
Eva Flores was crowned Queen of May at New Mexico School for the Blind during the sixth annual observance. The procession and coronation occurred on the front lawn with 28 girls and six messengers. Six Men Attend 70 Convention
Three Alamogordo and three Tularosa men attended the Highway 70 meeting in Roswell on Thursday April 27 at 2 p m. Delegates elected state officers and set the next state meeting for early June in Ruidoso.
