Warren Graham Named New Mexico Treasurer
Santa Fe, May 2. Warren Graham was named by Governor Hinkle to be treasurer of New Mexico. His appointment follows the failure of James Corbin of Estancia to qualify and bond. The long fight over the office ends as Graham’s million dollar bond was arranged within five hours. He was endorsed by the state Democratic executive committee and local leaders.

Death of William Bonner at Three Rivers
William Bonner died suddenly at his son Fred L. Bonner's home in Three Rivers Sunday. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Geren & Hammond chapel, interment in the local cemetery. He was 69, born in Ontario, survived by his wife three sons and a daughter. The Bonners moved from Ontario, Canada last September for Mrs. Bonner’s health.

The Sacramento Land and Cattle Company plans to exchange about 15 300 acres of cut over timber land in townships 15 and 16 South Range 11 east for lands outside the National Forest under a new special law. W T Dougherty from Albuquerque will appraise the land in Alamo Gordo with two government reps and a company rep. The trade would move forest lands to private grazing use and place forest lands under reforestation. Two federal laws enacted last session authorize such exchanges within forests for private lands.

A group of Alamogordo business leaders organized a Rotary Club on Monday night at Howard's cafe with about 28 attendees including Roswell visitors. A. F. Menger was elected president, D. H. The charter is expected to be approved by next Wednesday with officers installed by visiting Rotarians from El Paso and Roswell. Carter expects easing auto license backlog by May day
Santa Fe April 30. Controller R H Carter reports 7000 license applications piled up when he took charge of the motor vehicle license bureau on April 16. In a letter to sheriffs he asks patience for drivers lacking 1923 seats and says big inroads have been made in the backlog in about ten days. He aims to relieve congestion by May 1 and then asks sheriffs to help by charging all offenders.

Supreme Court Limits Liquor Sales To 3 Mile Zone
The Supreme Court ruled that neither American nor foreign ships may sell liquor inside the three mile limit. Outside that zone the prohibition law does not apply to either American or foreign vessels. Funds Available for Road Work on Mescalero Reservation
It is reported from Mescalero that Sept Morgan will have the sum of 15 000 available next year for the construction of the Mescalero Cloudcroft road within the Reservation boundaries a distance of 4 ½ miles. The total length will be about 11 miles with some 64 miles in Lincoln National Forest. The Forest department will have money available probably and completion will create a fine highway linking Alamogordo Cloudcroft Mescalero and Tularosa inviting tourism from El Paso and beyond.

William Johnson dies in Tularosa at 93
William Henry Johnson aged 93 years and 7 months died Tuesday at his son J L Johnson’s home in Tularosa after a long life spanning Murray County Tennessee Carlsbad and La Luz before settling in Tularosa in 1895. Funeral held at the Johnson residence and burial in Tularosa cemetery. He leaves sons J L Johnson of Tularosa and J P Johnson of Waco Texas and three married daughters.
