Bids opened at City Hall for two steel water storage tanks each 55,000 barrels capacity and over one mile of concrete pipe to convey Fresnal Canyon water through gravel beds. Stolen 1939 Oldsmobile Found North of Alamogordo
A blue 1939 Oldsmobile four door sedan owned by Manuel Diaz was stolen from in front of the Moller Bar in Tularosa about 12 30 a m Saturday. State Patrolman Harvey Stanbrough spotted the abandoned car near the new drive in theatre site north of Alamogordo and alerted police. The vehicle was recovered with minor motor damage and left where it was abandoned.

Library Act support urged by Alabama library leader
Mrs. Minnie N. McNatt, chairwoman of the Alamagordo Public Library Board, urged citizens to back the Library Services Act. She cited 30 million people lacking local public libraries and 35 million with inadequate ones, saying the act could expand access and even mobile book service. The bill is H. Lions Club honored members of the New Mexico School for the Blind wrestling team at a April luncheon in the Plaza Cafe Buffet Room. Award sweaters went to Delfino Sandoval, Eddy Madrid, A C Sturgeon, Ramiro Irabaleana, Charles Quintanna, Pancho Maes, Lucio Grule, Pedro Valverde, and Pablo Tapia. Valverde and Tapia plan to graduate while ending long wrestling careers. Valverde carried a three undefeated-year streak and a third place at the Oklahoma tournament. Tapia, seven years as a wrestler, had no dual defeats and second place in Oklahoma despite an injury. The team has lost only twice in six years, both to Amarillo High School.
