State Test Well At Tularosa Drills 65 Feet

Professors W J Cummins and E W Edwards, geologists for S P Ky and Viking OW Development Co, warned Southwest Drilling Co crews to prepare for a possible gas blowout as drilling nears 1500 feet. High Values Realized From San Andreas Ore Shipments
A shipment of 24 tons of copper and silver ore from the G. Babers and Son mine near Tularosa yielded 94.50 dollars per ton with ore grading 36.04 percent copper and some silver. The Bella Vista mine, worked about 25 years, is mined via an inclined tunnel with a four inch vein. Ore is hauled on burros to the railroad, eight miles south of the Tularese Eagle highway. Babers plans a mule car, and will switch to compressed air drills to speed extraction. Mrs Shufelt and Mrs Box are visiting in the area from El Paso.

Mountain Steers Shipped From Here to Amarillo and Dalhart
Two hundred twenty eight head of mountain steers from Cloudcroft and Mayhill were shipped from here Wednesday and Thursday by Leo Smith of Carrizozo and Lee White, cattle contractors. The herd, driven into the stock yards, included Bernard Cleve, Frank Mahill, Tate Baird, Frank Bonnell, Henry Tally, C. A. Redie and Ell and Lee Moser and were said to be in fair condition.
