W J Cooper reports from Ash Canyon in the San Andreas district on the George C and the Lucky Andy claims owned by W S Baker. He describes a cross cut tunnel of 118 feet on the George C with a 6 foot copper vein and 12 to 20 percent copper plus silver. The Lucky Andy shows 260 feet of tunneling with a vein 2 to 4 feet wide and 2 to 6 percent copper with over 1000 tons of ore on the dump. Recent tests indicate two ounces of silver and 20 percent copper, and by June the Lucky Andy could ship ore with a plan for a concentrating plant if water is secured. The district's mineral development inspires capital and portends mining growth.
